Kara Killmer has been a crucial part of Chicago Fire since her debut in season 3. As Sylvie Brett, the fearless medic, she has saved countless lives and made a huge impact on those around her. The latter is especially true when it comes to her ex-boyfriend, Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer).

While Casey is no longer working at the 51, the mutual feelings between him and Brett remain as strong as ever. This has led some fans to speculate that Brett, and by extension, the actress who plays her, will be leaving the show in the season 11 finale.

Will Sylvie Brett be leaving Chicago Fire?

There are a couple clues that make this theory plausible. For one, Brett seems to be the focus of the season finale. The synopsis confirms that the character will get “life-changing news” at some point during the runtime, and given that Casey is confirmed to come back for the episode, it’s easy to envision a world in which they get back together.

Since Casey lives in Oregon, one would assume that Brett would pack her things up and move with him. Right? Well, it’s difficult to say. Kara Killmer has not made any announcements regarding her plans to leave the show, and Chicago Fire is currently dealing with a complicated situation with another huge cast member: Taylor Kinney.

Kinney, who has taken a leave of absence from the show, has not yet been confirmed to return to the show in season 12, so it would be a risk on the part of the writers if they were to axe the Brett character and move her out of Chicago and forego another foundational character.

Whether or not Brett packs up and leaves in the season finale remains to be seen, but it does seem as though the show is gearing the character for a major change, and one that could eventually lead to her exit in season 12 if Killmer and the writers decided to go that way.

We can’t wait to find out what happens.
