Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is in the running for most troubled Chicago PD character. She’s had to contend with killing someone in the season 10 finale, alienating her boss, Voight (Jason Beghe), and watching her marriage with Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) fall apart.
The only newcomer who tried to connect with her on an emotional level turned out to be a serial killer, Sean O’Neal (Jefferson White). The promo images for the latest PD episode, “Fight”, suggest that the bad breaks just keep on coming.
Is Tracy Spiridakos leaving Chicago PD season 10?
Upton’s life appears to be in danger as she gets dragged into a “deadly betrayal” and trapped in a public bathroom. The images show her zip-tied to a sink and struggling to break free, while a man named Lee (Jack DiFalco) lies unconscious.
The closer One Chicago gets to a season finale, the more danger the characters will be in. It’s just the rule of network television– finales equal dramatic stakes. Upton is no stranger to this rule, as the season 10 shooting and the season 9 shooting can verify. She’s consistently been involved in some of the most controversial and deadly encounters in the entire show.

The concern, of course, is whether these repeated risks will eventually get the best of her. One can only be in so many deadly situations before they wind up dead themselves, and Upton has not been in the healthiest headspace since her pseudo-split from Halstead.
To be fair, Chicago PD has already struggled to gain its footing after Halstead left, so the notion of writing yet another main character off the show is bold. It would infuriate fans, especially now that the show has been renewed for an additional season.
While the promo makes the character’s situation look bleak, we’re hopeful that she’ll make it out in one piece and live to help out Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) come the season finale.
