There’s been a rumor circling Chicago Fire that Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is going to get pregnant. The rumor stems from a conversation between her and Cruz (Joe Minoso), in which she mentions that she doesn’t have kids… “yet.” It’s admittedly thin in terms of evidence, but fans did theorize that a baby was what was going to bring Severide (Taylor Kinney) back to Chicago.

The thing is, Severide won’t be coming back for the season 11 finale. Kidd has been incredibly busy on the job and dealing with a stalker. It looks as though motherhood is still in the air, however, and it looks as though the recipient of this plot line is going to be someone else in the main cast…

What happened to Brett on Chicago Fire?

Brett (Kara Killmer)! The character has gone through lots of personal growth in season 11, after she decided to end her long-distance relationship with Casey (Jesse Spencer). The decision was not easy by any means, but Brett ultimately made the right call, and dated casually following the split.

After landing a professional win in season 10, however, Brett has been less clear on where the direction of her personal life is going. The synopsis for the finale teases that she will be given “life-changing news”, and while this initially seemed tied to the return of Casey, a recent plot line has us thinking that it may be tied to a baby girl.

In the episode “Never, Ever Make a Mistake”, Brett answers the emergency call of a teen mother and her infant daughter. The daughter is hospitalized following some health complications, and Brett takes an immediate interest in her once she’s recovered. The teen mother seems to take note of this, and drops the baby in the 51’s baby safe box.

Adoption is something we’ve seen many Chicago Fire characters do before. Cruz did it last season, and Casey adopted a child with Dawson (Monica Raymund) in season 5. Given that Brett was given up for adoption at an early age, it seems like a logical progression of her character. Do you think she will become a mother by the season finale?
