Is there a more troubled character on Chicago Fire than Sam Carver (Jake Lockett)? The guy can’t seem to catch a break. A week after he was exposed to toxins and hospitalized, the character was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit.

To make matters worse, the arrest happened at the end of the episode, so fans will have to wait a week to find out whether the character will be kept behind bars for an extended period of time or if Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) will be able to bail him out.

Is Carver still on Chicago Fire in season 11?

The person behind Carver’s arrest is a man named Shep (Eric Peterson). The episode opened with the 51 helping Shep, who had been crushed and trapped under a dumpster. In an effort to keep Shep’s spirits up while he was being rescued, Kidd told him that she cares about him, but the former took things a little too far. He showed up at the 51 looking for Kidd, and when he saw Carver next to her, he immediately became jealous.

Carver decided to do some digging into Shep’s personal life, and he discovered that the man was no longer taking the medication that was prescribed to him. When off the medication, Carver is told that Shep can get violent and aggressive. Especially towards women.

Shep eventually finds out where Kidd lives and tries to get into her apartment building. Carver gets word of this and rushes over to help his lieutenant out, and he starts fighting Shep as soon as he arrives on the scene. When police show up, however, it looks like Carver is beating up a helpless, homeless man, so he’s taken into custody.

Given how much attention Shep got during this week’s episode, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him return. Carver once again proves himself to be a good, if misunderstood guy, and Kidd, despite having some reservations about Carver in recent weeks, will have to reassess her feelings about him in light of his heroic actions. There’s also the fact that Severide wasn’t home to help protect Kidd from the unstable Shep, so it’ll be interesting to see if the writers explore his absence in the aftermath of this chilling encounter.
