Kidd’s new stalker: Who is Shep on Chicago Fire?
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has seen better days on Chicago Fire. In season 11 alone, she’s been attacked on her honeymoon, rushed into surgery to remove shrapnel from her side, and been stripped of her husband’s presence in the firehouse.
Now, it appears, she has a stalker. Kidd tried to be supportive to a homeless man during a rescue in season 11 episode 20, but the kindness was misinterpreted as romantic interest, and the rest of the episode saw the homeless man, known as Shep, exhibit increasingly unstable behavior.

Shep, played by Eric Peterson, was introduced in dire straits. He was trapped under a dumpster, and rather than appear eager to get out, he was spiritually defeated. He lamented the fact that nobody cared whether he got out from under the dumpster or not, which is why Kidd said she cares about him.
Shep decided to visit Kidd at the firehouse to thank her, but his bizarre reaction to seeing Kidd talk with Carver (Jake Lockett) set off all sorts of red flags. When Kidd was out of sight, he cornered the other firefighter and told him: “She doesn’t love you!” Naturally, this concerned Carver, who went and investigated the homeless shelter that Shep was supposedly staying at.
Come to find out, Shep hadn’t stayed at the shelter for quite some time because he was no longer taking his medication. When he’s off his medication, apparently, Shep becomes aggressive and violent towards others.
The most chilling moment in the episode comes towards the end, when Shep appears at Kidd’s apartment and tries to get her to buzz him in. Kidd is understandably terrified by the idea of this random man invading her home, and the situation felt especially unnerving when you consider the fact that Kidd’s husband, Severide (Taylor Kinney), is nowhere to be found.

This is the kind of situation that Severide had saved Kidd from in the past, so the ramifications of the latter having to call up Carver for help are going to be interesting to explore throughout the rest of season 11 and season 12, when Severide will presumably return.
Carver rushes to Kidd’s defense and starts a fight with Shep, but the police mistake his intentions and arrest him on the street. Shep is allowed to walk, which means we definitely won’t be seeing the last of him in this episode…
