Is Dante Torres going to get fired on Chicago PD?
Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) has been a reliable presence in Chicago PD season 10. He’s proven to be effective in the field, knowledgeable about the local gangs, and supportive of his peers, especially when they’re dropped into a deadly situation.
The episode “New Life” will put the character to the test, however. Torres will get involved with a murder case that has a connection to his past, and a lifestyle that he’s tried to keep secret from Voight (Jason Beghe) and the rest of the IU. Once it gets out, will the rookie lose his job?
Is Torres leaving Chicago PD in season 10?
There was always a sense that Torres grew up in a dangerous environment. When he was first brought on to the show, he impressed Voight and the rest of the IU with his ability to interrogate local gang members by speaking their language and knowing which buttons to push.
That part of his skill set has been pushed to the background in recent episodes, but it looks like fans will finally get a detailed look at Torres’ youth. The promo certainly ratchets up the tension, with Torres telling a family member that he’s worried what will happen when his past life gets brought out into the open.
“My team, they don’t know about me,” the character says. “And when they do, I lose my job.” If that wasn’t enough dramatic tension to sustain an episode, the promo cuts to a man in handcuffs who tells Voight that has a “dirty cop” on his payroll. The moment the words “dirty cop” are spoken, we see Torres suspiciously wiping his hands off.
While there’s been nothing to suggest that Torres is a corrupt cop, it will be fascinating to see what details he’s so afraid of exposing, and the lengths he will go to cover them up. It feels like a real fork-in-the-road moment for the character: either he gets through this and sticks with the IU long term or he gets caught and this is the end of the line for him on the show.
