It’s all leading to the season 11 finale. Chicago Fire has released the trailer for the upcoming episode, and while fans had already been informed that Casey (Jesse Spencer) would be coming back, we weren’t prepared for the level of emotion that the trailer delivered.

The main focus of the episode appears to be Brett (Kara Killmer) and Casey, as they look back on their time together and (seemingly) consider whether they have a future together. It’s packed with references to previous events, and it even drops a few hints as to what their ultimate decision will be. Let’s unpack the full trailer.

Will Brett and Casey get back together on Chicago Fire?

The first thing we see is Brett with the newborn baby that she’s decided to adopt. It’s clear that she had a connection with the baby from the moment she first encountered it, and her decision to take on the role of adoptive mother makes all the sense in the world when you consider that she was given up for adoption at an early age.

Where things get really intense is when Casey returns, and says that he wants to be in Brett’s life again. “I wanna be here if there’s anything I can do to help,” he explains to her. We then get a cut to the doorway where Casey and Brett first kissed, complete with a flashback to the actual moment. It’s a moment designed to tug on the heartstrings, and it works like gangbusters.

The biggest moment comes at the tail end of the trailer, when Casey and Brett are simply looking at one another. Casey longingly, and Brett emotionally, as it looks like she’s struggling to hold back tears. The edit is effectively done, as we can’t tell whether Brett is about to get back together with Casey or tell him that their time together has passed.

They still have feelings for one another, and both are at a point where parenting is more important to them than their respective careers at the 51. It’ll be exciting to see what their ultimate decision is, and how it will affect both of their stories moving forward.
