Chicago Fire has lots of story threads to resolve as it heads into the season 11 finale. There’s the reunion between Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Brett (Kara Killmer), and of course, the fallout of what Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) found out about Severide (Taylor Kinney) and his location.
There’s another story thread, however, and it’s been developed over the last few episodes, and it has to do with one of the firefighters being arrested and nearly charged with assault. Jail time was on the table for this character, so it was unclear whether we’d see them again…
Is Carver coming back to Chicago Fire?
We’re of course talking about Carver (Jake Lockett). The character stepped up to defend Kidd against a stalker and wound up getting arrested as a result. The arrest led to a suspension and the aforementioned risk of jail time, but thankfully, the latter was dropped and Carver was set free.

There was some tension lingering as to whether Carver would be taken off suspension and allowed to resume duty, but thankfully, the new promo photos from NBC confirm that the character is back in action.
In fact, Carver is featured more prominently in the season 11 finale photos than most of the other characters. He’s seen alongside Kidd, and is seemingly leading the charge in what looks to be a tense emergency call.
It’s a relief to see Carver back in the mix, since he’s been one of the consistent highlights of the show this season. His unpredictability, and the past struggles that we’ve learned more and more about have made him a fascinating addition, and coupled with the departure/absence of veterans like Casey and Severide, it’s much needed.
