Is Voight’s number up? The veteran officer (played by Jason Beghe) is the closest Chicago PD gets to a protagonist. He’s been present for all of the major storylines in the show, and he can always be counted on when the other characters need advice.
The promo for the season 10 finale suggests that Voight may be in mortal danger, however. The promo sets up massive stakes for the episode, in that the IU is going to have to stop a domestic terrorist group who plan on killing hundreds of people in the greater Chicago area.
Is Jason Beghe leaving Chicago PD season 10?
Voight can he seen ordering the shutdown of several different blocks, while shots of SWAT team members kicking doors in and searching abandoned house are intercut with a sudden and massive explosion. It’s unclear whether anybody was in the house when it exploded, but a devastating pull back reveals one limp body on the ground in front of the house: Voight.
It’s not something we saw coming. Sure, Voight was shot during the season 9 finale, but that was an instance in which he was trying to talk someone into giving up their weapon. Someone he was close to. It’s not often that we see Voight get taken out, to the put where we question whether he will make it out of a situation alive.
Voight is present in several of the promo photos that NBC released, but it’s unclear whether the photos are all prior to the explosion or not. If they are prior to the explosion, and there’s a strong chance they are, than we can’t be sure that he’s going to make it out of the finale alive.
Even if he does, which would be best case scenario, we imagine that getting caught in an explosion of that size will be pretty tough to recover from. It would not be a surprise to see the officer laid up in the hospital with severe burns and maybe even some broken bones.
Do you think Voight is going to survive the season 10 finale?
