When a show runs for as many seasons as Chicago Fire has, it’s to be expected that there will be changes to the cast as actors come and go. And that has most definitely been the case with NBC’s hit drama.

Over the course of the show’s eleven seasons, fans have said goodbye to countless characters who have been written off the show either for creative reasons connected to ongoing storylines or due to an actor’s desire to move on to pursue new roles.

With some of these character exits, the door has been left open for their possible return but only a few rare characters have actually made appearances following their original departure. Other exits were a bit more permanent with the writers opting to kill off a handful of characters over the years, often in connection with major season-ending cliffhangers.

Regardless of how the exits unfolded, at the end of the day, each left a hole in the hearts of the fans who loved the characters and has left them hopeful that one day we might get to see the characters return in some capacity, even if just for a cameo.

Chicago Fire characters fans want back (According to Reddit)

In a recently posted Reddit thread on the Chicago Fire subreddit, fans were asked which characters they would bring back from the show if given the chance. Clearly looking to open the options up and engage as many fans as possible, no stipulations were given with fans encouraged to select any character they’d like to see back regardless of whether the character is dead or alive in the One Chicago universe.

Across the many comments, fans were quick to jump in and share the characters they’d love to see back which led to mention of many fan-favorite characters being mentioned. Surprisingly though, it wasn’t any member of the original cast who took the top honor though as the character fans most want to see return is Emily Foster, who joined the cast in season 7 and left the show after season 8.

Following closely behind Foster in the poll was an original member of the show who was also written off with little notice: Peter Mils. It seems fans are in agreement with AI in wanting to see Mills return which is understandable given we haven’t seen the character since his exit in season 3.

Bringing up the Top 3 is a character that might surprise some with Jeff Clarke, a character who began his journey on Chicago Fire before moving over to Chicago Med where his time was also cut short after a short tenure, coming in at No. 3 on fans’ wishlist. While Clarke might not have been part of either cast for an extended period of time, it’s clear he left an impression on fans who are eager to see him back
