Across the first season of Fire Country, CBS’s breakout firefighter drama did an incredible job of building Bode and Gabriela up as the show’s central couple with their dynamic driving many of their characters’ actions across the season.

With Bode still serving out his conviction and having to adhere to the protocols in place at Three Rock, the pair don’t exactly get the chance to explore their relationship in a normal environment. However, as the season nears its end, there is hope that Bode is going to make parole which will allow them to finally be together in the real world and enjoy life without all the restrictions connected to Bode’s current situation.

In the finale, Bode is to go before the parole board but before he gives his speech, Mel pulls Bode aside and spins a story about how Bode was to blame for the drug activity at Three Rock and that his involvement was going to prevent Freddy from getting out. She presents Bode with the option to cop to the drug dealing and Freddy will be set free or don’t and Freddy will stay behind bars for the time he didn’t commit.

In the end, Bode decides to confess to take the fall so that Freddy can be sent free leading him to be sent back to jail and his future with Gabriela left up in the air.

Will Gabriela and Bode get back together on Fire Country?

Considering that Gabriela and Bode were one of the central couples in Fire Country season 1 and jumped through hoops to try to be together, there seems like a good chance the pair will find their way back to one another somehow. However, it sounds like fans should not expect to see Gabriela getting back with Bode or moving on with Kyle at the top of the season in the immediate fallout of the events from the finale.

According to actress Stephanie Arcila, who plays Gabriela on the show, in the wake of everything that went down in the season 1 finale, Gabriela is going to “take some space” and won’t be jumping into a new relationship or back into Bode’s arms when Fire Country season 2 arrives.

As Arcila told TVLine:

"“I think what Gabriela will do right now is take some space. I don’t think she would jump into something right away. Even in a moment in her life where she has no control over everything that’s happening, she will do her best.”"

Given how central of a couple Gabriela and Bode were in season 1, it seems likely they’ll eventually patch things up but it’ll be interesting to see how much time passes before the pair mend their relationship or even the show will take both characters in entirely separate directions.
