Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) is an interesting presence on Chicago PD. He’s got a strict moral code, but he also has a tendency to cut corners if it means exacting justice. Sometimes it gets him into trouble, as it did in season 9, but other times it helps him solve a given case.

Ruzek is also in a precarious situation heading into season 11. He was shot in the stomach in the season 10 finale, and left to bleed out for some time before the rest of the IU could get to him. The finale ended with Ruzek’s fate unresolved, so we have to wait months before we know if he made it.

Here’s what we know about the character and his age.

How old is Patrick John Flueger on Chicago PD?

While there’s no info on when Ruzek’s birthday is supposed to be, a number floating around the internet seems to be 1989. It’s the year the character was supposedly born, which would make him 34. It makes sense, given that Ruzek is supposed to be around Burgess’s age, and she has been confirmed to have been born in 1988.

What makes Ruzek’s age interesting is that it differs pretty sizably from Patrick John Flueger’s. The actor was born in 1983, which means he’s a solid six years older than the character he plays. Flueger is currently 39 years old.

While this sort of thing happens, depending on the requirements of the show and the character in question, it is a bit of an anomaly on Chicago PD. Ruzek and Burgess are the only ones who don’t share an age with their characters, or are at least within a year of their respective characters.

It’s a testament to both that they are able to pull it off without the viewer questioning the age gap. There is, however, the possibility that the writers and showrunners will change Ruzek’s age to fit his offscreen counterpart in a later episode. It’s something that happens fairly often with TV shows, and PD has already something similar with Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).

There’s been consistent speculation about Jay and whether he’s older or younger than his brother Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), and its led to multiple answers being given depending on the show you’re watching. As of right now, though, Ruzek is 34.
