Chicago PD is always good for a cliffhanger. The show gave us some tense action involving domestic terrorists in the season 10 finale, and it all ended with Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) getting shot in the stomach and rushed to the hospital.

Things don’t look great for Ruzek, and a few hospital rooms down, Chicago Fire character Mouch (Christian Stolte) is bleeding out from his own gunshot wound. Death will be in the air when the franchise comes back in the fall, so we thought we’d break down the characters who are least likely to return for Chicago PD season 11.

Will Ruzek return for Chicago PD season 11?

Things are not looking good for Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). The character has been on quite an emotional rollercoaster for the past two seasons, especially when you consider his dynamic with Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and his parenting of Makayla (Ramona Edith Williams). The fact that he’s gradually being pulled in the direction of domesticity and happiness puts him at a greater risk when he’s in the field, and he paid for it with a bullet to the stomach.

Now, Ruzek is an essential part of the IU, and killing him off would be a powerful and devastating way to kick off the new season. It’s the most likely character death, given the poor condition he seems to be in. Still, we maintain hope that he will make a full recovery and stick around.

Will Callum Beck return for Chicago PD season 11?

Yes, Callum Beck (Graham Harvey) is the person who shot Ruzek. He went against the wishes of his mom Samantha (Caitlin Mehner), who tried to cut a deal with Ruzek, and decided to shoot the undercover cop. Things backfired for the kid when his uncle Richard (Lee Tergesen) decided to take him hostage in a police stand-off, but Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) was there and he put Richard down with a single shot.

The last time we see Callum he’s glaring at Atwater, as though he intends on getting revenge for what the cop did, but unless the show jumps well into the future, when Callum is an adult, we doubt that we’ll be seeing him anytime soon.

Will Halstead return for Chicago PD season 11?

Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) has been gone for a while, but he remains a crucial part of the show due to his marriage with Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). The couple still interact over the phone, or at least they did before Halstead stopped taking calls. The last we saw of their relationship, Upton was tearfully taking off her wedding ring.

It doesn’t look good for them in the long term, and there will definitely be more Halstead talk in season 11, but we don’t expect to see the character return to the Windy City to finalize a divorce or to win Upton back. It’d be nice, but it probably won’t happen.
