How old is Trudy Platt on Chicago PD?
Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) is a fan favorite on Chicago PD. While she’s rarely at the center of stories and episode arcs, she can always be relied on to deliver a witty remark or sage advice to the young officers in the IU.
Platt has been a part of the police force for decades, and her marriage to Chicago Fire‘s Mouch (Christian Stolte) is one of the best crossover elements of the entire One Chicago franchise. It’s also why we’re worried about Platt heading into the season premieres of both Fire and PD. Her husband was shot by a sniper, and is still bleeding out, and her colleague, Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) is fighting for his life a few hospital rooms down.
We recently ran a post on Mouch’s age, so we thought it only fair that we investigate Platt’s age as well.
How old is Amy Morton on Chicago PD?
Platt joined law enforcement in the 1980s. She started her career with the Bureau of Patrol, which focuses on general field operations in the greater Chicago area. She then moved on to the robbery and homicide division of the 21st precinct in the early 2000s and has remained there ever since.
Platt’s bravery in the field has cast a wide shadow on the younger characters in the show. It was Platt’s handling of a case that inspired a young Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) to become a cop when she grew up.

Not much has been discussed when it comes to Platt’s birthday, but we do know that one must be 20 years old to join the Bureau of Patrol. If we assume that she was around 20 in the mid 1980s, than we have the character being born in the mid 1960s, which makes the character about four years younger than actress Amy Morton.
Morton is 64 years old, but Platt is closer to 60, given the retirement age for officers is around 60. It’s a topic that hasn’t yet come up, though it will, with the characters of Voight (Jason Beghe) and Mouch having just turned 60 in the One Chicago over the last year.
This also makes Platt the same age as Mouch, which makes sense given their general approach to their professions and their ability to dispense advice to the younger generation. It’ll be interesting to see how Platt handles the mortal danger her husband is in, and how both PD and Fire are going to keep them in the mix.
