What’s next for Hailey Upton in Chicago PD season 11?
It’s not easy being Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). In the last two seasons of Chicago PD, she’s killed a criminal, helped to cover it up, gotten married, saved her boss’ life, and watched as her marriage has fallen apart.
Oh there were also the times that she had to engage with a serial killer to uncover his victims and fought for her life when she was kidnapped. Both of these storylines occurred well after Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), her husband, decided to leave quit the IU and leave the country.
What’s next for the character? Will she finally catch a break in season 11?
Is Tracy Spiridakos returning to Chicago PD?
Unfortunately, things will probably get worse for Upton before they get better. She was not put in harm’s way in the season 10 finale (a nice change of pace, given her involvement in the previous finales), but she still has unresolved business with Halstead.
The last time we got an Upton-focused episode, she was struggling to get in touch with Halstead. Even after she was kidnapped and placed in mortal danger, as we previously mentioned, he could not be bothered to call her back. This led to the emotional gut punch of watching her take off her wedding ring for the first time.

Season 11 is going to have to delve further into Upton’s marriage, and provide some concrete answers. They can’t live in marital limbo forever, so either Halstead is going to have to return and make up for the months he’s ignored her, or they are going to have to get divorced.
It’s not a fun though exercise, but given that Jesse Lee Soffer left the show less than six months ago, we can safely rule out the first option. That leaves divorce…
If Upton is going to continue to be a vital part of the IU, then she is going to have move past her relationship with Halstead and forge ahead. We expect season 11 to place a lot of focus on this storyline.
