5 worst dads from Chicago Fire, Med and PD ranked bad to downright awful

2. Cornelius Rhodes, Chicago Med

Cornelius Rhodes (D.W. Moffett) is such a bad parent that his son Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) went to medical school in another country to get away from him. That alone would make him one of One Chicago’s most terrible dads, but it’s just the first of many reasons why we share Connor’s vitriol toward his father.

He has all of Benny Severide’s problems and worse, but just with more money. Cornelius is even more smug and full of himself, except while Benny seems to still be a vaunted figure in the world of Chicago Fire, Connor isn’t the only person who dislikes his father on Chicago Med. We learn in an early episode that his grandfather specifically told him not to turn out like his dad.

Cornelius was a jerk to almost everyone, including complaining when one of his employees needed surgery at the hospital and deriding Connor’s relationship with Dr. Robin Charles (Mekia Cox).

But he took his appalling behavior to a new level in Chicago Med season 3 when it became clear he has no respect for his son and he’s creepy as heck. While he didn’t deserve to die the way he did, we can’t say we shed a tear when he
