Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) is in an interesting spot on Chicago Fire. The character has grown from an eager upstart to one of the foundational members of the 51, and with this newfound responsibility comes newfound drama.

Gallo was at the center of some very dramatic moments in season 11. There was the situation with his aunt, who’s near-death encounter with a car led to the family members getting closer, and then there was the one that fans have been most curious about, which is the dynamic between Gallo and Violet (Hanako Greensmith).

Is Alberto Rosende returning to Chicago Fire?

It’s rarely been simple between these two, but season 11 really turned up the heat. There was, of course, the trauma of Gallo nearly dying in the same fire that claimed Violet’s boyfriend, Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas), and the fact that Gallo wanted to support Violet during grieving period without overstepping any boundaries.

The bond between Gallo and Violet grew throughout the season, though it reached an unexpected climax in season 11 episode 15. Gallo turned down Violet’s invite to grab brunch, stating that he was worried she was confusing her feelings for him and her feelings for the late Hawkins.

“I’m sorry. I can’t imagine how complicated this all must be for you, Violet,” he explained. “For me, it’s not complicated at all. It’s really simple, and it’s only about you.” The last line was particularly impactful, as it confirmed that Gallo still has romantic feelings for his ex.

We don’t expect Gallo and Violet to have sorted through their issues by the time season 12 premieres, but we do suspect that a large part of the season will be dedicated to the two of them working through the issues that have plagued them in the past, and moving past them together. Both seem to be at a point in their lives where they are mature enough to do so.
