What’s next for Sylvie Brett in Chicago Fire season 12?
Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) has some big changes ahead of her on Chicago Fire. The season 11 finale not only made her an adoptive mother, but it brought back her ex-boyfriend, Casey (Jesse Spencer), and had him propose to her in the spot where they first kissed!
Brett’s life will look drastically different in season 12, regardless of whether she says yes or not. Season 11 was a bit of a transitional period for her, as she decided to end things with Casey and try to focus on self-improvement for a while. She dated for a little while, but things really seemed to snap into focus when she decided to become a mother.
Is Kara Killmer returning to Chicago Fire?
Brett was given up for adoption at an early age, so there’s a full-circle element to her adopting a girl of her own. It’s sort of renewed her sense of self, and really, a development like that changes a person for good. We expect to see a different Brett in season 12– one who’s more emboldened and more confident about her place in the world.
That’s not even getting into the Casey situation. She obviously still has feelings for Casey, as was made clear by her decision to end things with Dylan (Christopher Allen), but Casey’s return and his subsequent proposal have all happened so fast.

We suspect that Brett says yes, and the two characters live happily ever after. If it happens, then Brett will have effectively gotten everything she’s been missing over the last year, and it will be satisfying to watch. If she says no, then she will chart an unexpected path that will be fascinating for altogether different reasons.
Either way, Brett is poised to be one of the most important characters on Chicago Fire heading into season 12, and we can’t wait to see how she navigates the big decisions in front of her, as they will dictate the rest of her life!
