What’s next for Hank Voight in Chicago PD season 11?
Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) had a less-action packed finale in Chicago PD season 10 than he did season 9. That’s probably a good thing: season 9 saw him lose the trust of Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado) and take a bullet to the shoulder for good measure.
That doesn’t mean Voight had an easy season 10 finale. The character was caught in an explosion, and had to watch as one of his IU veterans, Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), took a bullet to the gut. It will definitely take some getting used to when the characters return in season 11.
Is Jason Beghe returning to Chicago PD?
Voight is an at interesting point in his career. He’s lost his right-hand man, Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), and has helped Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) through the sadness and heartache of him being gone. Loss seems to be the running theme with the character. His friendship with Avalos reached a tragic conclusion when Upton was forced to kill her, that’s not even getting into the death of his son or his buddy Olinsky (Elias Koteas) from years prior.
We say all this to say: Voight is in need of a new arc. He’s the same reliable anchor as always, but he doesn’t have a lot going on in his personal life, and his arcs in season 10 were largely based on the stories of others.

It might be nice to see the character strike up a romance with someone, or at least another bond with a character along the lines of Avalos. He needs an outlet, and while Upton has served as a confidante the past, she’s currently dealing with the dissolution of her marriage.
As Chicago PD crosses the decade mark, it could benefit the show to look into Voight’s future, and determine where they want the character to end up. He’s not leaving anytime soon, but he’s been part of the force for decades, and it would be encouraging to see a world in which he finds peace.
