Chicago PD characters who should be cut in season 11
Chicago PD has a pretty tight-knit group of characters at its core. People who get introduced are generally kept around for a while, and when they aren’t the expectation that they will keeps fans on their toes.
That being said, Chicago PD is going to have make some changes in season 11. The procedural drama will have to limit the appearances of supporting characters in order to cut down on the cost of each episode, per NBC’s request. So, with that in mind, here are a few characters we would be ok seeing less of…
Is Nina Chapman leaving Chicago PD season 11?
ADA Nina Chapman (Sara Bues) played a surprisingly big role in season 10. She had an episode dedicated to a case from her past, and she was brought back around in the season finale to help Voight (Jason Beghe) and the rest of the IU interrogate domestic terrorists.
The character is useful in a pinch, and showed some unexpected depth, but given how infrequent her appearances on Chicago PD are, we’d be ok not seeing her in season 11. There are so many other characters that warrant the screen time.
Is Jay Halstead leaving Chicago PD season 11?
Technically, Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) is already gone. He left a few episodes into season 10. The thing is, the character has been a talking point ever since. Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) has maintained hope that Halstead will return and repair their marriage, but all signs point to this not happening.

Even if Soffer were to return for a brief cameo, it would only make the process of saying goodbye to the character more difficult. We’d prefer a clean break in which the character was written out of the show and mentioned in passing, rather than every few episodes.
Is Samantha Beck leaving Chicago PD season 11?
Samantha Beck (Caitlin Mehner) is an interesting case. The character was technically a criminal, but she grew close with Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) during his undercover case, and even agreed to testify against her cohorts in exchange for protection.
The thing is, Samantha’s son Callum (Graham Harvey), shot Ruzek, and the finale made it seem as though Callum was going to develop a vendetta against Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins).
We’re perfectly okay parting ways with the Beck family. They provided a great storyline in season 10, but we’d prefer to see the IU move on from them and focus on other cases as they head into season 11.
