The Good Doctor characters who probably won’t be back in season 7
The Good Doctor has gone through lots of personnel changes over the last six seasons. It’s a pretty standard practice. When a show gets as popular as this one, there’s bound to be switches in an effort to keep things fresh. If we don’t feel like the characters are at risk for significant change, then what’s the point, right?
Well, season 6 gave us more change that we bargained for. There were lots of exits and suggested changes happening around the titular doctor (Freddie Highmore), so we decided to lay out which characters aren’t coming back for season 7.
Is Danny returning to The Good Doctor?
Danny Perez (Brandon Larracuente) showed up early in season 6 and immediately proved an asset to the ensemble cast. He was a character who connected with his peers almost immediately, and his kinda/sorta romance with Jordan (Bria Samone Henderson) gave the season one of its most compelling subplots.
Unfortunately, Danny is moving on. The season 6 finale will be the last regular appearance for the character, as the actor who plays him will be starring in the new Dick Wolf show, On Call. There’s a hope that Danny could make a cameo at some point down the line, but we don’t think it will be soon.
Is Dr. Han returning to The Good Doctor?
Dr. Han (Daniel Dae Kim) gained unexpected internet fame when a clip of him interacting with the titular doctor went viral. Sure, Dr. Han hasn’t been seen since season 2 (he was an unseen threat in season 3), but he’s risen in popularity since then, and Kim is a producer on the show. It’s not out of the question to wonder whether he will make a return.

Unfortunately, there would be little reason for him to return given the current storyline of the show. The Good Doctor is not the kind of show to bring back characters just because, so we will all have to get out Dr. Han fix by simply watching season 2 episodes.
Is Dr. Mateo returning to The Good Doctor?
Dr. Mateo Rendón Osma (Osvaldo Benavides) was a welcome addition to The Good Doctor when he joined in season 4. He was being positioned as a main cast member, and officially become one in season 5, but shortly after, it was confirmed that the character would be leaving.
Osma left the show because he was needed for an urgent surgical mission in Guatemala. It was a sudden explanation, and one that fans were hoping would be fleshed out down the line, but given how much time has passed, we don’t expect to hear from the character anytime soon.
