What’s next for Will Halstead in Chicago Med season 9?
We have a long wait for Chicago Med season 9, but it doesn’t stop us from looking at what’s to come next. What’s in store for Will Halstead?
Not only do we have the writers strike going on, but we now have the actors strike happening. The wait for Chicago Med season 9 is going to be a long one. That doesn’t stop us from looking back at where things ended for the various characters in season 8 and assessing where we’ll see them in season 9.
It’s all about one of the remaining OG members at the hospital, Will Halstead. What could we see for him in the new season? Sadly, there’s not going to be much.

Will Halstead has left the hospital in Chicago Med season 9
At the end of Chicago Med season 8, Will Halstead made the decision to resign. It came after he and Grace sabotaged the AI system for the operating theater. Will took on all the blame and handed in his resignation at the same time.
He’s going to be a little stuck for work. Sharon wouldn’t be able to give him a reference with everything that had happened, but Will was fine with that. He understood, but it was time to move on.
Where to? Seattle of all places. We saw at the very end that Will went to see Natalie Manning and her son. It looks like the two had remained in touch after Natalie left Chicago for her hometown of Seattle. We can believe that the two are going to be happy together in Seattle, and he’ll find a job there somehow. If the Halsteads can do one thing, it’s find their footing.
The door is open for Will and Natalie to return, but they probably won’t at this point. Maybe just a guest appearance here and there. We’d be up for that.
