Is Chicago Med season 9 coming in 2023?

All eyes are on the fall 2023 schedule and when our favorite shows will return. Will we see Chicago Med season 9 premiere in 2023 at all?

At the time of writing this, NBC still wants a normal fall. Of course, that’s not going to happen. Not only are the writers on strike, but now the actors are on strike. This is going to affect all levels of production, so we’re not expecting scripted shows back for some time.

Could we still see Chicago Med season 9 premiere at some point in 2023, though? While it won’t be in September, could we see something similar to the pandemic? At this point, we don’t envision any of the broadcast shows coming back this year.

When will Chicago Med season 9 premiere on NBC?

A lot of networks are pivoting to a similar strategy to ABC, which immediately set up a strike-proof fall schedule. FOX, The CW, and CBS have all made it clear that the usual scripted shows won’t come back until January 2024 at the earliest. We’re expecting to see NBC pivot to that very soon.

That would mean a January 2024 premiere date for Chicago Med season 9 at the earliest. Whether we’ll get it that early is another thing.

It now all depends on how long the strikes go on for. With the actors joining the writers, there is more bargaining power. The two unions need to work together to stand with each other in solidarity to get the best deals possible for both. The studios aren’t negotiating just yet, but they may be forced to very soon. After all, while broadcast has been hit immediately, it won’t be long now before Netflix, Amazon, and other streaming networks start to be affected by the lack of content.

This is something we’re keeping a close eye on. We’ll be sure to let you know when there is something concrete about Chicago Med and the other Dick Wolf shows.
