Taylor Kinney has spent most of 2023 as a man of mystery. While everything seemed normal heading into the beginning of the year, the actor’s announcement that he would be stepping away from Chicago Fire threw fans for a loop. He was written off shortly after the announcement was made public, and hasn’t commented on his decision since.

To make matters even more puzzling, Kinney has not posted on his social media accounts since late 2022. He’s only made a few social media appearances at all, and they’ve been on the IG page of his girlfriend, Ashley Cruger.

Is Taylor Kinney on Instagram?

Kinney broke his social media silence on Easter, appearing in a photo alongside Cruger. The photo was followed by another post of the couple on April 17. Kinney can he seen riding a motorcycle on a track, while Cruger is riding behind him and recording a video. “Record lap time,” the caption read.

That was the last time Kinney has any sort of social media presence. He’s been quiet throughout the final weeks of Chicago Fire season 11, and has not commented on the writers or actors strike since they were made official.

Kinney did issue a statement on the passing of former co-star Treat Williams on June 14. The statement was released to People Magazine, instead of Kinney’s social media, and it read:

"“My thoughts and prayers are with Treat’s family,” the actor wrote. “He played my father on Chicago Fire, and was a father figure to everyone on set. I’ll always relish our conversations and his uncanny ability to light up a room. We all send love, he will be missed.”"

Neither Kinney nor Chicago Fire reps have laid out plans for the actor in season 12, which is both good and bad news. While it’s unnerving to have to wait to find out whether we will be getting more Severide, we at least know there’s a chance he will return to patch things up with Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) after withholding information from her in the season 11 finale.
