Chicago PD is on hiatus for several reasons. Firstly, the show wrapped a few months ago, and it wasn’t slated to return until September. Secondly, the writers and actors strike are underway, so that original September date is likely pushed back.

One thing that is still active is the One Chicago Instagram account. A photo was posted on the account that shows several of the PD cast members standing around a kitchen island: Marina Squierciari, LaRoyce Hawkins, Tracy Spiridakos, Benjamin Levy Aguilar, and Jason Beghe. All the heavy hitters were accounted for, except one… Patrick John Flueger.

While it may have come across as a chance exclusion under different circumstances, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Flueger’s character, Ruzek, is the one with the most uncertain future heading into season 11. The last we saw of him, he was shot in the stomach and in critical condition in a Chicago hospital bed.

The One Chicago account must have been aware of how fans would react if a photo didn’t include him, and the fans did not disappoint. The comments for the post were flooded with people saying things like “No way we can afford to lose Adam!” or “Adam better be ok I’ll never watch this show again.”

The silver lining is that the photo is likely from season 10, rather than the upcoming season. The show is not slated to begin production until late July, and that was before the actors strike got underway. Now that actors are protesting, and refusing to work on major films and TV shows, things are going to be pushed back indefinitely.

Hawkins recently gave a master class lecture at LSU, where he said that he anticipates waiting a few months before production can resume. He also took into account that there aren’t script for season 11 yet, and the writers would need several weeks to get their ducks in a row.

We can’t say whether Ruzek will be ok or not, but we don’t think this IG photo is a clue to his fate one way or another.
