Eyes are on when our favorite One Chicago shows are coming back. What about Chicago Fire season 12? Will we see it premiere in 2023?

The strike action continues, and it’s leading to networks pivoting from original plans. As of writing this, NBC hasn’t changed its fall 2023 plans, but we’re sure to see things change soon.

Originally, the plan was for Chicago Fire season 12 to premiere in the fall as usual with the rest of the One Chicago lineup. That isn’t going to be possible, especially now that the actors have joined the writers on strike. The two unions are working hard for fair deals for all, and this is set up to probably be the longest strike in history.

So, what does this mean for the premieres of our favorite shows? How long will we need to wait?

When will Chicago Fire season 12 premiere on NBC?

There is a slim chance we could still see Chicago Fire season 12 in 2023. It would be in November or December of this year with the way things are going. However, we want to make it clear that it’s a very slim chance.

Other broadcast networks are pivoting to a fall schedule with reality shows, game shows, and streaming acquisitions. We could see that happen with NBC, too. There are plenty of shows on Peacock that could be brought to the linear network for the fall. This would push all scripted shows to 2024.

Realistically, the earliest we’re looking at the show returning is January 2024. this doesn’t guarantee anything. It’s all going to depend on when the writers and actors go back to work. Once the writers are back to work, production could start up a month later as long as the actors are back to work too.
