The 3 best (and 3 worst) Chicago Fire characters
Best: Matt Casey
Matt Casey is one of the most important Chicago Fire character. Even though he left the show in season 10, he’s continued to be a crucial part thanks to mid-season and finale cameos. His actions speak for themselves: he left the Windy City to look after the children of his deceased friend, and he returned to propose to Brett, in what was the most suspenseful cliffhanger of all three One Chicago shows!
Despite being absent for long stretches, the character’s virtues have been preserved. This is in stark contrast to the way Severide (Taylor Kinney) has been characterized in his absence, but hopefully season 12 will fix that.
Worst: Grant Smith
Grant Smith (Guy Burnet) is Kidd’s ex-husband, and boy are we glad they aren’t together. Grant attacked Kidd with a knife at one point, and was regularly abusive during their marriage. He also resorted to stalking her, and played a huge role in why Kidd and Severide initially broke up.
We know that characters are introduced with the specific goal of getting a reaction out of fans, but Grant really pushed the envelop in terms of being an unpleasant presence on the show. We’re glad he doesn’t come around anymore.
