For the last 13 years, Blue Bloods has been a staple on CBS’s fall lineup with new seasons often debuting in late September or early October. The plan was for this to once again be the case this fall as CBS was set to release the show’s upcoming fourteenth season as part of its 2023-24 fall season. However, that’s no longer the plan.
Due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes which prevent writers and actors from working on Hollywood projects including shows and movies, CBS has been forced to delay the returns of its scripted series. This, unfortunately, includes Blue Bloods season 14.
While CBS was originally planning on debuting the new season of its long-running Friday night drama this fall, the network has announced it will be delaying Blue Bloods‘ return.
When is Blue Bloods season 14 coming out? (Release date predictions)
Currently, CBS has not yet released the official release date for Blue Bloods season 14; however, it has confirmed that the new season will not be coming until 2024. This means the absolute soonest we could see the new season premiere would be in January.
A January premiere date is possible for season 14, but it could be contingent upon when the writers’ and actors’ strikes come to an end. If the strikes continue beyond October, production will be delayed even further which could push the show’s return back as well.

Once the strikes are resolved, we’ll have a better idea of when the show will return to CBS’s lineup. The one good piece of news for fans is that CBS has announced it will be airing Blue Bloods reruns in the fall so fans can at least enjoy encores of past episodes as they wait for season 14 to kick off in 2024.
