It’s difficult to imagine Chicago PD without Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). The character was around before the show even started (he was introduced on Chicago Fire), and has come to embody all the qualities that make it special. He’s had some close calls over the years, especially when it comes to season finales.

He was shot by Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado) in the season 9 finale, and knocked down by an explosion during the season 10 finale, so fans may be wondering if the character is going to be back in the mix for season 11.

Is Hank Voight still on Chicago PD?

The answer is a resounding yes. Voight and the actor who plays him are coming back to lead the IU in season 11. The character is in a difficult spot, however, as he will be faced with the fact that one of his team, Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), is fighting for his life. Ruzek was shot in the stomach, and the finale ended before clarifying whether he would make it.

Voight has dealt with plenty of loss in recent years. Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), his closest friend in the IU, decided to quit and move to Central America, and the aforementioned Avalos, who was close with Vought in her own way, was shot and killed shortly after she pulled a gun on him. It’s not been an easy road, especially when you take the previous losses of his son and his veteran partner, Olinksy (Elias Koteas), into account.

We hope that Voight turns a corner in season 11. He’s been through so much, and his life seems to revolve around his work, so hopefully we will get a chance to see more of his personal side, or at least a side of him that hints at what he will do when he eventually retires.

The character is nearing retirement age, which could also lead to some interesting storylines about mortality and having to pass one’s legacy onto the next generation. Either way, we’re happy to have Voight stick around.
