Sophia Bush hasn’t been on Chicago PD for several years, but the actress remains a crucial part of the show’s history. Her performance as Erin Lindsay is one of the most beloved on the show, and so franchise fans have continued to follow her various personal and professional changes.

The latest of these falls under the former. Bush has filed for divorce from her husband of one year, Grant Hughes. People Magazine reports that the actress officially submitted paperwork on Friday, only weeks after the couple celebrated their anniversary.

Who is Sophia Bush’s husband?

Bush and Hughes, who have known each other for nearly a decade, have seemingly ended their marriage on good terms, and will continue to be in each other’s life in an official capacity. At least, according to an inside source. “Sophia and Grant [Hughes] were friends for 10 years and bonded during COVID through their love of community service,” the source noted. “They continue to run their nonprofit together and remain good friends.”

This is not the first time that Bush has ended a marriage within a year. She married her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray in 2005, and was officially divorced from him by 2006. She told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen that she and Murray rushed into marriage and were simply too young to maintain a long-lasting relationship.

“We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place,” she said. “To all the other costars who’ve worked it out, more power to you.” Bush has made it clear that she doesn’t have any ill will towards Murray, and simply feels that both of them have matured with age.

"“At the end of the day we’re grownups, and I actually think what’s interesting about it is that when people split in a way that’s unpleasant, they usually just go on quite literally hating each other—or the person in my situation hates the other person, whatever—but when you have to work with somebody for another half a decade, you kind of have to deal with it,” Bush added."

Bush is next slated to appear in the 2024 film Freedom Hair.
