Emma Jacobs was bad news from the moment she debuted on Chicago Fire. It was clear from the start that she had ulterior motives, and sure enough, she tried to blackmail Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) to advance her position with the 51. It didn’t work out, thankfully, but the character reappear with a new job title in season 11.

There’s obviously some tension between Jacobs and Violet, given the passing of Hawkins, but their interaction made it seem as though the former would be making future appearances on the show. Will Jacobs be back in season 12?

Is Emma Jacobs leaving Chicago Fire?

All signs point to yes. She’s nobody’s favorite character, but Caitlin Carver plays her wonderfully, and she definitely poses a professional and personal challenge for Violet whenever she’s around. The fact that she’s in a position of power is also interesting. She was the one who decided if Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) got in trouble for the way he handled a civilian, and while she made the right call, it is frightening to think that she could use her position to sideline someone she doesn’t like.

The Carver angle may come back around. There was some definite signs of flirtation between the character and Violet in the season 11 finale, and some fans have speculated that we may get a romance between them in the upcoming season.

Given that Jacobs has had interactions with both characters in the past, and with Violet’s love life, in particular, it could be an interesting way of getting her back into the story. Maybe the next time Carver does something questionable, she doesn’t let him off so easy. We’d be a little surprised if Jacobs never returned, given that the writers dedicated time to setting her job and teasing an ongoing feud with one of the show’s main characters.

We’re not sure how she will fit in to season 12, but we’re confident that she will.
