Donnie Wahlberg is the heart of Blue Bloods. The star has been the most outspoken champion of the show during its decade-plus run on CBS, and he continues to be a good source of inspiration and information as Blue Bloods remains on hiatus.

Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan on the police procedural, recently took to Instagram to talk about the anxiety he deals with as a performer, and offered up some encouraging words to fans who encounter similar discomforts in their own lives.

When is Blue Bloods coming back?

“To whomever is struggling with fear today, I know a 15 second reel may not change your life,” he wrote in the Instagram caption. “I also know that it’s not easy to live without fear, worry or anxiety. It’s something that I’ve worked on, and continue to work on, every single day since I was an anxiety riddled little kid.”

The actor, who rose to fame as part of the musical group New Kids on the Block, also talked about the importance of giving yourself time to reset, and prepare yourself for future challenges. “That said, if this reel can give you a little boost, a little bit of hope or even ease your worry for a brief 15 seconds — then it’s worth me sharing,” he added. “Hang in there! You will make it through — you always do! Sending love your way.”

Wahlberg was one of the actors who agreed to take a pay cut so that the crew members of Blue Bloods could be kept on for the upcoming season. He was also one of the biggest proponents for renewing the show, when it was unclear if CBS would bring it back for season 14.

“I love Blue Bloods, and I think if there weren’t a season 14, the loyal fans of the show would be very, very outraged,” Wahlberg told ID network. “They’re part of the Reagan family. The audience is the extended family. If the show were to go away without [fans] having a proper sendoff … I think they would be mortified.”

Thankfully, the actor and the fans got their wish. Blue Bloods will be returning for another season, even if the writers and actors strike have delayed it to 2024.
