Fire Country was originally supposed to air during the fall of 2023. It was among the most popular new programs that CBS rolled out, and has quickly joined the ranks of Chicago Fire and Station 19 as a crowd-pleasing firefighter drama. The network wasted no time renewing it, but the writers and actors strike have made it so that Fire Country won’t be coming back this year.

The show, along with most of CBS’ fall slate, have been pushed back to the start of 2024. This is due to the fact that the showrunners don’t have writers or actors to work on new episodes. In its place, CBS will be rolling out game shows and reality competitions for the rest of the year.

When is Fire Country season 2 coming out? (Release date predictions)

The earliest that Fire Country season 2 could be coming to CBS would be in January 2024; however, that would be contingent upon the show entering production this fall. Warren Leight, a former showrunner for Law & Order, discussed the time production turnaround that shows will be facing over the next couple months.

“Today many network dramas would have begun shooting their 4th episode of the fall season,” Leight wrote on Twitter. “If the strike were somehow to end by Labor Day and shooting were to begin in early fall, the networks might be able to salvage a 13 episode season. The clock keeps ticking.”

If production is able to get underway in September, there is a chance we could see a sophomore season premiere in late January. That said, a January release does seem like a long shot given there is an expectation the strike could continue well into the fall. All we can do is hope for the best.
