The wait to find out what happens after FBI: International season 2’s explosive finale will be a long one as the next season of CBS’s hit series isn’t coming in 2023.

Like many other CBS scripted series, FBI: International‘s return has been delayed as a direct result of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. As production on season 3 has not yet begun and CBS was aware production wouldn’t be able to commence this summer as originally planned, the network was forced to shift the show to its midseason schedule.

As a result, the third season of the series will not air in the fall as originally intended with CBS having to pivot its plans for the fall. This means we’re going to have to wait until next year to find out if any member of the Fly Team won’t survive the explosion that occurred in the closing moments of the season 2 finale.

FBI: International season 3 release date predictions

Honestly, it’s looking like the absolute earliest FBI: International season 3 could premiere on CBS would be in February 2024. That’s right, there is a very long wait ahead for new episodes of CBS’s hit drama.

Production on season 3 will not be able to begin until new deals are reached between the WGA and SAG-AFTRA unions and the studios. If the strikes are resolved in September, there is a chance production will be able to begin in time for the shows to premiere in February. However, if the strikes run into late September or even October, we could be looking at a March return for shows such as FBI: International.

Needless to say, the timeline for when scripted shows such as the FBI series might return to CBS’s lineup will be dependent upon when production is able to begin.

Once the strikes conclude and new deals have been struck, we should have a better idea of when shows will be able to enter production and therefore could premiere. In the meantime, it’s looking like we’ll be waiting until February or March 2024 for new seasons of hit broadcast shows to arrive.
