Chicago Fire season 12: Will Hanako Greensmith return as Violet Mikami?

Violet (Hanako Greensmith) has become one of the most important characters on Chicago Fire. She was introduced in season 8, and over the course of four seasons, has experienced romance, heartbreak, and tremendous growth as a person. It’s hard to imagine the show without her, even if it existed for so long beforehand.

The question facing every Fire character, though, is whether they will be return for season 12. It’s less of a guarantee than it has been in seasons prior: the writers and actors strike is still ongoing, and it’s unclear how long it will take for scripted dramas to get back on the air.

Is Hanako Greensmith leaving Chicago Fire?

All that said, Violet Mikami will definitely be back for season 12. While a character like Severide (Taylor Kinney) may be on the bubble, the medic is crucial to so many subplots that axing her would mean rendering the subplots useless. There’s Violet’s relationship with Gallo (Alberto Rosende), which has taken on fascinating dimensions as of late, and her friendship with Brett (Kara Killmer), which will be more crucial than ever since Brett was proposed to in the season finale.

There was also a hint of a potential romance, or at least a fling, with Carver (Jake Lockett). Both characters have been involved with other people over the last season, but the flirtatiousness put on display during the aforementioned finale has fans wondering if maybe they are willing to try another workplace relationship. Obviously, the last time Violet attempted something in the workplace, it resulted in tragedy.

It’ll be interesting to see how much lingering trauma Violet will deal with, especially once we hit a full year since Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) died. Hopefully she’ll be able to put it behind her, and move on to something that will restore her trademark optimism.
