NCIS fans rejoice: there will be new content to watch during the fall season. While the core trio of NCIS shows have been delayed to 2024 due to the writers and actors strike (or, in the cast of NCIS: LA, cancelled), NCIS: Sydney will be premiering on CBS to help fill the void.

NCIS: Sydney is the fourth show in the franchise, and the first to be set outside of the United States. It will consist of eight episodes, and will undergo an interesting release method in which it will premiere on CBS the same night it will be made available to stream on Paramount Plus and Showtime.

When is NCIS: Sydney coming out?

While the show will premiere early in Sydney, on November 10, it will be made available to stream in the United States on Friday, November 13. This will make it the only scripted show to debut on CBS during the fall, as it wrapped production shortly before the writers strike got underway.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach issued a statement with the show’s release date, and made it clear that she was thrilled to be expanding the international appeal of the NCIS brand. “NCIS is one of the most popular series in the world and we’re thrilled to expand this franchise with a uniquely Australian twist,” she wrote.

“With the addition of NCIS: Sydney, our studio and network footprint continues to grow in this fascinating world that has been a proven winner with viewers on both linear and streaming platforms,” Reisenbach added. “Featuring the stunning backdrop of Australia, the new series will incorporate the high-stakes intrigue, humor and camaraderie that have kept fans captivated by the NCIS teams for over two decades.”

It’s unclear whether the success of the first season will lead to an expanded episode count; one that will be closer to the episode counts of the other NCIS shows, but regardless, we will have a means of getting their procedural fix during the fall, and we couldn’t be more excited.
