Kelli Giddish spent a decade dazzling fans on Law & Order: SVU, and while the actress is no longer part of the show, she will always been a part of its rich history. Giddish received an outpouring of positive comments from SVU fans on Thursday, when she announced that she had given birth to a baby boy!

The actress, who already had two kids with her husband Beau Richards, introduced the world to Oldie Richards on her Instagram. “My husband and I welcomed Oldie Richards on June 20th and we are so in love and so very grateful”, she wrote in the caption. “You’ve brought immeasurable JOY to me and your daddy and your two brothers (and your grandparents and aunts and uncles!). You wake up smiling and the light you bring to each moment is truly incredible.”

It’s a heartwarming update after the actress decided to leave SVU earlier this year. There was no animosity between her and the cast or crew (she posted a photo with co-star Mariska Hargitway shortly after her departure was confirmed), Giddish simply felt like she had taken the character of Amanda Rollins as far as she could go.

“My side of things is just that it’s time in the Rollins storyline”, she told Variety. “I felt like where it was heading, and where it headed last night, just seemed the right place to leave it right now. I am so excited about things going on in my personal life and kind of the mirroring of what’s going on in my personal life and in Rollins’, there’s a lot of joy to be experienced.”

Giddish, who rose to fame on All My Children and has made guest appearances on The Good Wife and Without a Trace, is not scheduled to appear in any films or TV shows in 2024. It’s clear that she’s content to take some time off to spend with her family, and we couldn’t be happier for her!
