The Rookie season 6: Will Lisseth Chavez return as Celina Juarez?
The Rookie started out with an eye-catching premise about the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles police department: John Nolan (Nathan Fillion). The character faced plenty of mockery, and some growing pains on the job, but he eventually grew into an excellent cop. So much so, in fact, that he’s been given a rookie of his own to train: Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez).
Giving the titular rookie a rookie of his own is a clever reset of the show, and a way to show that Nolan has grown immensely since the pilot episode. Fans are curious, however, as to whether the new rookie will be sticking around when the show returns in 2024.
Is Lisseth Chavez leaving The Rookie?
Fortunately, the answer is yes. Juarez will continue to work alongside Nolan in season 6, learning and teaching Nolan a thing or two along the way. Lisseth Chavez is no stranger to playing cops on the small screen– she spent several seasons on Chicago PD, but Juarez is a more fleshed out character than her PD counterpart, allowing her to develop into a sophisticated officer over the course of several episodes.
Juarez also served to strengthen the show’s ensemble cast during a point in which Fillion was concerned that the opposite would occur. When he was told that a Rookie spin-off was going to be put into play, the actor worried that the network would be taking characters from the original show. Much to his relief, The Rookie: Feds developed characters of its own.

“Oh my God, that’s such a great idea. We must be doing well if we’re going to get a spin-off show”, the actor told Entertainment Weekly. “Then there’s a down. You go, ‘Wait a minute. Does that mean they’re going to take one of our characters?” Instead, Fillion got a new co-star, so it was a win-win all around.
We’re excited to see what Nolan and Juarez get up to in The Rookie season 6.
