Chicago Fire is finally returning to NBC’s schedule but there’s a twist
By Cody Schultz
It’s been an incredibly long summer for One Chicago fans. We’re used to offseasons that bring about months without new episodes of Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med.
Usually, this hiatus comes to an end in September when new seasons of the three shows kick off on NBC as the fall TV season returns. This was the plan for the 2023-24 season; however, that all changed when a pair of strikes ground Hollywood to a halt.
Due to the WGA strike, production was unable to begin on the new seasons of the One Chicago series during the summer when it would normally kick off. The hope was perhaps the strike would end in time for the shows to return in the fall; however, when the actors’ union went on strike as well it became clear scripted series wouldn’t be making it back this fall.
As a result of the strikes, the One Chicago shows won’t be kicking off their new seasons this fall, but that doesn’t mean NBC isn’t going to bring fans some One Chicago episodes to enjoy on Wednesdays this fall!
Chicago Fire returns to NBC fall schedule
Beginning on Oct. 4, Chicago Fire will return to NBC as the network begins airing encore episodes every Wednesday night at 10/9c following new episodes of Quantum Leap and Magnum P.I. While these might not be new episodes, it will at least give fans the chance to enjoy episodes of Chicago Fire every Wednesday night as they anxiously await the show’s return in 2024.
So just what does NBC have in store for fans this October?
