Jesse Spencer is one of the most important One Chicago actors of all time. As Casey, the heroic leader of the 51, he guided Chicago Fire through some of its most iconic seasons and memorable episodes. He’s still a crucial part of the show, but as the season 11 finale suggested, he may be leaving for good.

With all that in mind, we figured now would be a good time to reflect on Spencer’s legacy, and the episodes that he enjoyed making the most. The actor has been effusive in his praise for the team behind the firefighting drama, but for him, there is one episode that stands above the rest…

What is the best Casey episode of Chicago Fire?

During a 2023 interview with NBC, Spencer reflected on the action scenes he participated in over the years, and it led to him placing the season 6 episode “Law of the Jungle” at the top of his list.

“I’ve flicked back onto old episodes and watched a scene and thought, ‘I do not remember even vaguely shooting this scene'”, Spencer noted. “The show’s gone for 10 years, so that’s a feat all on its own. But the first scene that pops into my head is Casey and Severide jumping off the building when a roof exploded behind them. I don’t think you can get any more iconic Chicago Fire than that.”

“Law of the Jungle” isn’t an episode that gets mentioned often when discussing the best Chicago Fire episodes, but we can’t fault the actor’s pick. If his case wasn’t already strong enough, his Fire co-star, Taylor Kinney, also spoke highly of it. “It’s one of the best memories I’ve had in the last 10 years”, the Severide star added.

There’s something very poetic about Casey and Severide picking the same iconic Chicago Fire scene. The two characters have been at the center of the show for its entire run, and both of their fates remain unclear as we head into season 12. One kept appearing when the other went away in season 11, so hopefully we get to see the longtime friends reunite at some point.
