NCIS has had an embarrassment of riches over the years. There have been countless TV stars that have been part of the main cast, including Mark Harmon and Lauren Holly, so it should come as no surprise that these big names commanded big salaries. At one point, according to Country Living, Harmon was the fifth highest-paid actor on television.
Of course, Harmon left the show in season 19, and several cast members have stepped up in his absence. NCIS continues to boast an impressive array of actors, but since the headliner that was Harmon is gone, there may be some uncertainty about which one commands the highest salary in 2024.
How much does Sean Murray make on NCIS?
Generally speaking, seniority is a good indicator of which actor gets paid more on a show. The more time they spend playing a character, the more audiences become attached to them, and the easier it becomes for them to negotiate more money per episode. By this logic, it should come as no surprise that the highest paid actor currently on NCIS is Sean Murray.
Murray, who plays Timothy McGee, has been part of NCIS from the start. He was a guest star in eight episodes during the first season, before being promoted to full-time cast member the next year. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Murray makes an estimated $300K per episode in 2024.

He spent several years as the second-highest paid actor on the show behind Harmon, but once the latter left he took over the top spot. If applied to a regular 20 plus episode season of NCIS, Murray makes around $7.2 million per season. Not too shabby. The actor’s consistent presence, especially in the wake of Harmon’s departure, cannot be overstated in terms of helping the show and the fans transition to a new era.
Murray talked about the secret to the show’s (and his character’s) longevity during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I know people love to say this but I actually mean it: we have a blast on set. We really do”, he explained. “We work hard, but we have a lot of fun, and a lot of us spend time with each other outside of the set. We’re all very close friends, and I think that that shows.”
The actor will be returning for the upcoming season of NCIS.
