One Chicago loves the holidays. All three shows in the franchise have made a point of basing entire episodes around special times of year, and its a testament to the talent of the writing team that the holiday episodes fit neatly in the flow of the entire season, instead of sticking out like sore thumbs.

Chicago Fire was the latest One Chicago show to release a holiday-themed episode, but the franchise has given fans lots of seasonally specific fun. And since its the fall, we thought we’d break down the best Halloween episodes that have been released by One Chicago over the years.

Chicago Fire Halloween episode: “Haunted House” (S11 E5)

Haunted House” should be fresh in everybody’s memories since it aired in 2023, but it definitely deserves mention as a Halloween must-watch. The episodes revolves around Brett (Kara Killmer) and her mad dash to get a haunted house attraction ready at the 51. There are some classic Brett hi-jinx along the way, and the episode gets even better when Cruz (Joe Minoso) gets involved as an assistant.

Since Brett decided to adopt a child and become a mother in the season 11 finale, there’s a charm and a poignancy to her interactions with kids, and one of her absolute best is when she sees all of the kids who arrive at the titular haunted house dressed up like clowns. She’s terrified beyond all belief, and runs away, in one of the episode’s many laugh out loud moments.

Chicago Med Halloween episode: “Lesser of Two Evils” (S4 E6)

There are lots of incidents that can happen on Halloween, whether it be through malicious intent or just bad luck. It should then come as no surprise that the Chicago Med staff had to deal with some All Hallow’s Eve shenanigans in the season 4 episode “Lesser of Two Evils.”

The episode details a particularly crazy night at Gaffney Medical Center, in which they have to contend with costumed patients AND some chaotic planning involving the joint bachelor and bachelorette parties for Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). There’s less of a spotlight on trick or treating than, say “Haunted House”, but there’s still plenty of fun character stuff, and its with characters, like Halstead, who are no longer part of the show.

Chicago Fire Halloween episode: “All the Proof” (S7 E6)

Chicago PD may have episodes with titles like “Ghosts” and “Fighting Ghosts”, but it doesn’t really get into the Halloween spirit the way its peers do. Because of this, we decided to include another good Halloween episode from Chicago Fire: “All the Proof.” The season 7 episode sees Brett and Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) respond to a call involving a Halloween prank gone wrong, and the prank is a doozy.

Basically, Brett and Foster have to help a five year child who managed to get into his dad’s stash of marijuana and get high as a kite. The child’s mother was understandably upset, but thankfully, the little one was able to make a full recovery without any serious side effects. We assume he will stick to candy moving forward.
