911 Season 7: Will Connie Britton return as Abby?

Writing work has started on 911 Season 7, and all eyes are on characters who may or may not return. What about Connie Britton? Will she be back as Abby?

During the first season of 911, we were introduced to the world of dispatcher through Abby. Connie Britton played the character, who was going through more than just dealing with calls from panicked and scared people. Abby was also dealing with caring for her mother, who had dementia.

Britton only initially joined the series for one season. She had recently come off the back of Nashville and had made it clear that she didn’t want to do a long show again. However, 911 was Ryan Murphy’s show and she and Murphy have a good working relationship. It wasn’t surprising to see that she wanted to leave after the first season.

Will Abby return in 911 Season 7?

We have seen Abby return since her exit. After ghosting Buck for some time, she returned due to an accident. There she revealed that she is getting married. It hurt Buck to learn this as he’d spent this whole time waiting for Abby to return. He was sure that he could do long-distance while Abby went out to find herself, while Abby had moved on.

It doesn’t seem likely that Abby will be back in 911 Season 7. Buck has since moved on, and there is no other reason for Abby to return. While she was friends with Athena, it doesn’t seem like that friendship was all that strong, and Abby didn’t have a strong connection to other characters.

Of course, it would be great to see where Abby is now. It would also be great to see Abby and Maddie meet each other to get a sense of what Maddie really thinks of the woman who broke her brother’s heart, but there aren’t going to be that many episodes in 911 Season 7 as normal, so the storylines will need to be contained.
