What a relief. After months of speculation and uncertainty over the future of the film and television industry, the actors and the studios reached a contract agreement. According to Deadline, the contract spans three years and provides better working conditions for actors throughout Hollywood. It also means a start date for Chicago PD is in sight.

The procedural drama was pushed back to 2024 due to the actors strike, but the decision to open up the writers room in October, coupled with the decision to prep soundstages, suggested that the show was eager to resume production as soon as the strike was over. Well, the preparation paid off.

When will Chicago PD start filming season 11?

Screen Magazine reported that Chicago PD is considering a production start date of November 27, which is several weeks ahead of the previous report that it would resume in December. The plan, according to the outlet, is to make sure that the agreement signed by the actors and studios goes through, and then spend the next few weeks finishing up the prep that’s usually done during the summer.

Once everything is set, Chicago PD intends to begin filming season 11 right after Thanksgiving. The same time table applies to the other titles in the One Chicago franchise, Chicago Med and Chicago Fire. All three utilize the same soundstages, and generally shoot at the same time to ensure that cameos and small-scale crossovers can occur.

The writers room for Chicago PD has been hard at work for over a month, and they clearly have plans to pack the 10-13 episode season with dramatic events. The show announced that Tracy Spiridakos, the actress who plays Upton, will be written out at some point during season 11, but the specific details of her exit will likely remain unclear until the premiere.

We’re basically in the rollout/speculation stage that’s reserved for April during most years, but the strike has delayed it condensed it so that we are being hit with exciting pieces of news on a daily basis. Above all else, though, we’re just happy to see that Chicago PD is gearing up for a return.
