It’s a good time to be a One Chicago fan. While the wait for new seasons has been tough, the news that we’ve been getting over the last couple weeks has been riveting. There have been big casting exits, surprising character returns, and a release date that is sooner than any of us expected it to be.

There hasn’t been much about the show from a promotional standpoint, which makes sense given that the actors were unable to talk about it during the strike, but Chicago PD‘s Marina Squierciati has finally broken the silence! The actress took to Instagram to post a photo and caption that will make longtime fans exuberant.

Squerciati enlisted the help of her PD co-stars LaRoyce Hawkins and Tracy Spiridakos, as well as Chicago Med star Nick Gehlfuss, to confirm that One Chicago is back up and running. The group of four posed for a photo at the United Center, the home of the Chicago Bulls basketball team, with the caption: “Get ready, get set, here we come…”

It makes sense that the cast would already be in the Windy City, given that production on all three shows are set to begin the week after Thanksgiving. The thing that’s interesting about the photo, though, is that two of the four actors in it are either gone or in the process of leaving their show. Nick Gehlfuss’ character, Dr. Will Halstead, left during the season 8 finale of Chicago Med, and it doesn’t seem as though he’ll be coming back anytime soon.

Then there’s Tracy Spiridakos, who is still part of Chicago PD but is confirmed to be entering her final season. The character she plays, Hailey Upton, will be present for the season 11 premiere but is going to be written out of the show at some undisclosed point.

What these recent/upcoming exits highlight, however, is how the One Chicago cast are genuine friends, regardless of whether they are acting with each other or not. Squierciati has remained great friends with Torrey DeVitto, who made a fun cameo in Chicago Med season 8 but hasn’t been part of the main cast for a couple seasons, and the two of them even posted an IG photo with Gehlfuss during the actor’s strike.

It’s camaraderie like this that makes One Chicago one of the most chemistry-driven franchises on television. We can’t wait for what comes next!
