Mariska Hargitay reunites with Law & Order: SVU star on IG
Mariska Hargitay has been keeping Law & Order: SVU fans going strong on her Instagram. The actress posted a teaser video confirming the release date for season 25, and has been posting numerous behind-the-scenes videos during production. Her latest post, however, could be her best yet.
Hargitay posted a group photo of the cast members who were on set, and chief among them was Kelli Giddish! It was recently confirmed that the latter would be returning to Law & Order: SVU for the upcoming premiere, but Hargitay’s post is the first time fans have gotten to see her back in action as Detective Amanda Rollins.
This Instagram photo isn’t the first time that Hargitay has celebrated Giddish’s return. When it was announced that Giddish would be coming back, she joined Hargitay for a video in which they danced together to the song “Lil Boo Thang.” The actresses are close friends, and Hargitay posted a message reflecting on their bond when Giddish originally announced she was leaving the show.
"“Kelli, I’ve loved acting, learning, growing, talking, laughing and crying with you,” Hargitay wrote. “I’ve loved watching your achingly beautiful performances. I’ve loved watching our friendship deepen and grow and blossom. I’ve loved every single minute of it, and I will miss you so much. You have my respect, my gratitude and my love forever. xo M.”"

Giddish was similarly complimentive of her co-star when she filmed what was intended to be her last episode. “The writers [were] right there because they trust Mariska and I to kind of fine-tune the words of the script,” she recalled to NBC. It’s so much fun, there’s so much laughter and there were so many tears. It was a really beautiful experience,” she said of filming her last episode.
It’s unclear how many season 25 episodes Giddish will be appearing in, but she’s poised to play a vital role in the premiere, and based on the fact that she’s already returned for a cameo during the season 24 crossover event “All Pain in One Malady.”
Regardless of how long the character of Amanda Rollins sticks around, it’s clear that Hargitay and company are thrilled to have her, and we feel the same!
