9-1-1: Lone Star is nearing the end of the line. The procedural drama has had a solid run on FOX, but it was confirmed in September that season 5 would mark the last time fans get to see their favorite characters in action.
It can always be a little tricky to get through a season of a show of knowing it will be the last one. There's something about the decisiveness of it, knowing that the way the season ends will be the way the lives of the characters end. And now that we have a confirmed release date for the series finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star, it makes the desire to enjoy every episode we have left even stronger.
9-1-1: Lone Star will end on February 3
TV Line unveiled two crucial dates on Monday. The first was the Winter premiere date for the second half of 9-1-1: Lone Star's second season, the second was the finale date. The former will be January 20, and the latter will be February 3.
You might think that's an incredibly quick turnaround between a show coming back and a show ending, and you're absolutely right. There will be a two week gap between the fall premiere and the very last episode of show, meaning will have to lock in quickly. The bright side, of course, is that the showrunners and writers have had an entire season to plot out a sendoff that will be satisfying for the fans.
Lone Star co-showrunner teased a 'beautiful' finale
9-1-1: Lone Star co-showrunner Rashad Raisani spoke with Variety about the process of writing a farewell season, and he actually said that it allowed the writers to dig deeper into the characters than ever before:
"I really wanted to give us that last episode to make people feel like, 'OK I got to know these people, and I feel like I’m leaving these people in a better place.'"
Raisani told the outlet that he still hopes the show could find a second life on a different network or streamer, but in the meantime, we're all going to prepare ourselves to say goodbye to Lone Star come February.
