911 fans are in for a long hiatus, but we’re already picturing different things that could happen on the show’s return. One thing fans have always wanted to see is a crossover between 911 and other series, and at least one of the show’s main actors feels the same way!
Over the course of the show’s eight-season run so far, 9-1-1 has had a crossover with 911: Lone Star when it was still on FOX. One character, Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), made an appearance on Doctor Odyssey after an early season 8 episode ended with her boarding a cruise ship just months after surviving a sinking with her husband, Bobby Nash (Peter Krause).
Now heading into season 9, is there a chance for more crossovers? With 911: Nashville coming as the third show in the franchise, there are no concrete plans as of yet to send the OG characters over to Tennessee, but it would be great to see Evan Buckley (Oliver Stark) in a cowboy hat again.
There is one possible show that could crossover with 911, and it’s another ABC series: The Rookie. During the ABC Upfronts, 911 star Ryan Guzman spoke about the possibility, saying, “I’d love to crossover with The Rookie.”
However, when told that the showrunner Alexi Hawley for the cop series said a crossover couldn’t be possible due to the different police forces and fire stations, Guzman waved it off and said the show is basically a “fantasy land.” After all, if Angela Bassett could get on a cruise ship in Doctor Odyssey, why couldn't the 118 cross paths with Officer John Nolan and The Rookie team?
The possibilities are endless, but it is always fun to see crossovers between characters we may not think would ever meet. Either way, even if it doesn’t happen, fans will still theorize what kinds of stories we could see between the two shows if the characters ever met.
911 will return in the fall of 2025, but fans of The Rookie unfortunately have to wait until 2026 for the show’s return. So even if there turned out to be a crossover in the works, it would likely not air until the spring. But we’re sure 911 will keep us busy with all of the emergencies and personal stories that will befall our beloved members of the 118 firehouse.
