Avery gets some unexpected news in Doctor Odyssey season 1, episode 8

Doctor Odyssey season 1, episode 8 promises us bombshells and emergency surgeries. Of course, there are some very tropey storylines for a rather tropey show. They’re sure to add some drama and excitement, though.

Avery is pregnant in Doctor Odyssey season 1, episode 8

After that wild night a couple of episodes ago, Avery has some rather surprising news. She’s pregnant. Of course, she has no idea who the father is. At least telling the two men that she has slept with both of them won’t come as a surprise. They were both there when it happened. The question is which one the father is.

Will we see something like Boston Legal where the two men battled it out? Brad and Jeffrey were both willing to step up when they found out Denise was pregnant. In the end, it was Brad’s and Jeffrey stepped back to allow the two of them to be together.

What’s it going to be like for Doctor Odyssey? Will both men step up? Will one want it more than the other? And will they battle over who gets to be with Avery?

There is also the question of what Avery will decide to do. Children aren’t in her plans right now. She wants to become a doctor, and she was on her way to doing that. There is still that chance to do it. We’re in the 21st century and women can manage it, but it’s not going to be all that easy. Especially not on a cruise ship!

Meanwhile, there is a quirky trend happening throughout the episode. Rubber duckies are taking over on the Odyssey this week. Say what? Just how is this going to happen? This is sure to connect well with Outlander fans out there who know all about the “quack.” I feel like someone may want to talk to Sasnak City about rubber duckies and learn Tim Downie’s Outlander story.

There will be a medical emergency on board that requires emergency surgery. Max is on hand to perform it with Avery next to him, but things are sure to be touch and go for a while. There’s a bleeder that Max can’t find. Will there be another death on the ship?

Doctor Odyssey season 1, episode 8 guest cast

Episode 8 of Doctor Odyssey featured an amazing array of guest stars including a familiar TGIT face with former Grey's Anatomy star Loretta Devine guest starring as a guest attending the Quakers Week cruise. She was joined by actor Fred Melamed, who played her husband on the show. Additional guests from the episode include Drienne Warren and Paloma Garcia-Lee, as Avery's longtime friends who dropped in to catch up with their friend.

The episode also welcomed back some of the season's recurring guest players including Laura Harrier as Chef Vivian Montgomery; Gina Gershon as Lenore Laurent, the wife of the owner of the Odyssey; and James O'Halloran as one of the ship’s bartenders.

There is a lot of focus on Avery in the images, with who are presumably her two friends. We see her talking to the two in the promo and she seems to turn to them for some advice.

There's also an image of Tristan with Vivian. I often forget about her because there's been so much focus on the throuple, but there has been some serious flirting between Tristan and Vivian. What's going to happen with Avery sharing that she's pregnant?
