The Reagan family are about to sign off the air and it seems someone from CBS’s hit crime drama Blue Bloods won’t be making it out of the series finale alive. The question is who exactly could end up being in danger?

Ahead of the series finale on Friday, Dec. 13, TVLine hinted that the series finale will feature the death of a potentially main character – the term main being the key word.

“I suppose it depends on how you define “main”…?” TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich teased in the site’s Inside Line when asked by a reader whether any main Blue Bloods characters will die in the series finale. This seems to hint a major death of some sort is coming in the series finale, but the mystery remains over who exactly might be the one laid to rest at the funeral scene featured in the promo for the series finale.

The good news is that it does not appear that any of the main characters will be impacted by the death as the promo for the episode as well as photos from the episode help us rule out several characters. In fact, nearly the full main ensemble is present and accounted for at the funeral with the following characters all appearing at the funeral procession: Frank Reagan, Danny Reagan, Erin Reagan, Jamie Reagan, Henry Reagan, Eddie Janko, Sean Reagan, Jack Reagan, Nicky Reagan-Boyle, Jack Boyle, Joe Hill, Maria Baez, Garrett Moore, Sid Gormley, Abigail Baker, Anthony Abetemarco, Captain Paula McNichols, Rachel Witten, and mayor Peter Chase.

Bad to Worse
“Bad To Worse” – Frank intervenes when tensions rise between Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh) and the Fire Commissioner of New York City (Mira Sorvino). Also, Erin is blindsided when Henry agrees to testify for the defense in a case she is prosecuting; Danny and Baez investigate when human remains are discovered in a storage unit; and Eddie and her partner Badillo navigate a complicated arrest when their criminal offender is scheduled to donate his kidney, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Nov. 1 (10:00-11:00 /

Blue Blood series finale likely to kill off Officer Luis Badillo

One character conspicuously missing from the funeral scene in the Blue Bloods series finale is Eddie’s partner, Officer Luis Badillo, thus hinting that Eddie’s partner is going to die on the job in the series finale of the show. Which makes sense when you look at those at the funeral scene.

Every member of the Reagan family has shown up as well as Eddie’s former partner Rachel Witten as well as her current captain. It would make sense that they would all show up to honor the life of Badilo and particularly to be there in support of Eddie, who looks particularly emotional in the below still from the series finale:

Additionally, if you were to freeze the frame in the trailer when the funeral scene is shown, there is a male officer whose picture is on display that resembles Badilo. Factor in that TVLine hinted a main character could be dying based on your definition of “main” and it would make sense that Badilo fit the bill.

Badilo is technically a main character on the show, but not in the same sense as some of the longer-tenured characters who have been given more prominent storylines such as Baker, Sid, Garrett, Anthony, and Baez. So when TVLine hinted that a main character could be dying but based on how yo define main, it would make sense that they were hinting at Ian Quinlan's character who has recurred this season.

We’ll find out for certain who won’t make it out of the Blue Bloods series finale alive when the episode releases at 10/9c on CBS.
